ATLX CLOSES STRATEGIC INVESTMENT WITH NEXOS CAPITAL PARTNERS FOR U.S. ROLLOUT AND INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION
24/7 Sports Entertainment Network for Everyday Athletes and Athletic Lifestyle Set to Launch in 2Q 2014
LOS ANGELES, CA, JULY 15, 2013 – ATLX (“Athletics, Training, Lifestyle”), the only 24/7 sports entertainment television network fully dedicated to everyday athletes and athletic lifestyle, announced today that it had secured strategic investment funding from Nexos Capital Partners (Nexos), a Latino-focused private equity firm, as the network expands its digital media offering and prepares for its television launch in spring 2014 (www.atlxtv.com). ATLX and Nexos have also partnered to expand the network’s original Spanish-language content in the ATLX space as well as distribute the ATLX Channel throughout Spanish-speaking markets.
“Nexos brings extensive experience to our executive team along with a deep understanding of ATLX growth markets in U.S. and global Spanish-speaking communities. Their private equity investment will allow us to accelerate our growth across all fronts,” said Jacob Arback, president and CEO of ATLX.
“While the major sports networks do an impressive job of delivering live sporting events and the experience of being a fan, ATLX, in contrast, delivers a destination lifestyle network and the experience of being an athlete,”Arback continued. “ATLX is re-defining what it means to be an athlete in a way that is more inclusive, personal and accessible. The network is all about transformation and storylines, taking everyday athletes into a world that used to be exclusive to only elite athletes and coaches.”
ATLX will launch with a broad slate of original entertainment programming across a variety of genres and formats. The network, which cuts across all sports, recreational and athletic activities, is designed for those in all life stages and at all levels of ability. ATLX also goes behind-the-scenes to explore the “athletes behind the athletes” – world-class coaches, sports doctors and orthopedic surgeons, sports psychologists and performance-based nutritionists who bring their credentials and subject matter expertise to ATLX audiences.
“ATLX was a natural investment for us given the strong track record of the company’s experienced management team. We believe there are significant growth opportunities as ATLX programming, subject matter and lifestyle themes are increasingly relevant in other global regions,” said Justo Frias, partner, Nexos. “We look forward to our partnership with ATLX in both the English- and Spanish-speaking markets.”
In addition to its strategic equity partnerships, ATLX has forged affinity and marketing partnerships with major sports and sports affiliated organizations across the country. The network continues to expand such partnerships as well as others in the areas of childhood obesity and safety in youth sports, two causes for which ATLX is lending its advocacy, support, PSAs and help in driving awareness.
ATLX (www.atlxtv.com), set to launch in 2Q 2014, is the only 24/7 sports entertainment television network fully dedicated to everyday athletes and an athletic lifestyle.
