In this week’s Common Sports Injuries, Dr. Luga Podesta helps us understand stress fractures and how we can prevent and treat them.

Luga Podesta, M.D. specializes in non-surgical sports medicine, shoulder, elbow, knee and spine. He earned his medical doctorate at New York Medical College/St. Vincent’s Medical Center of Richmond in Staten Island, New York. He completed his internship at Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, and his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitations at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York, where Dr. Podesta was chief resident. He completed fellows at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic and Staten Island Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in New York.

Dr. Podesta is a diplomate to the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a significant contributor in the medical professional community as a member of a number of medical societies, including the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, California Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and California Medical Association. He is a charter member at the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and is an orthopedic consultant to several athletic programs. He is an active author and lecturer.
